The One-Minute Astronomer: Tips, Tales, and Tours

OMA_EBook_Cover_KindleHere’s some fun for a cloudy night… a little guidebook entitled One-Minute Astronomer: Tips, Tales, and Tours for the Casual Stargazer. It’s a collection of more than 100 astronomy articles published on the One-Minute Astronomer website during its first few years. Each of these articles takes just a minute or two to read and will help you cultivate your interest in the night sky, whether you’re an armchair astronomer or experienced stargazer.

This e-book is organized into three sections…

  • Tips to give you advice on how to select and use optical equipment for seeing the night sky, and how to make sure you get the most out of your optics, whether you have binoculars or a big scope.  The first two articles alone may double the amount of detail you can see in the night sky.
  • Tales to introduce you to a number of remarkable astronomers who changed the course of science with their astonishing discoveries, some of which were made against formidable odds, and…
  • Tours to take you through some of the best sights to see in the night sky from the northern and southern hemispheres

You can read each article in any order you like.  Most articles just take a minute or two to read, though they will (hopefully) make you think and wonder for long afterward about the grand sights you can see in the night sky from just outside your door. The tours have illustrations and star maps to help you find dozens of grand sights in the night sky, in both the northern and southern hemispheres.
